Tree plantation campaign launched in Sorobi district

Capital Region Independent Development Authority (CRIDA) launched a tree plantation campaign in Sorobi district of Kabul province as the national spring drive for planting trees kicked off on Monday.

Talking at a ceremony held in the Central Middle School of the district, Engineer Mohammad Ebrahim, senior CRIDA advisor, said that at least 1,000 saplings of fruitless tree will be planted in several locations of the district during the first phase of the drive, adding that 8,000 more saplings will be handed over to the locals later on.

Shedding light on the importance and positive impacts of trees on the environment, Mr. Ebrahim said that tree plantation alone is not enough, urging the locals to take care for, maintain and preserve the planted trees, and stressed the importance of greenery and green environment.

Local elders and influential figures in the gathering expressed their gratitude and support for CRIDA for its comprehensive effort, pledging that they will spare no effort to maintain and preserve the planted trees.
